Founded in 1899, as Christian High School by a British-Canadian W. E. Macklin, Nanjing Zhonghua high School is famous for its long history, rich culture, and excellent teaching staff. As early as 1953, it was identified as one of the first key high schools in Jiangsu Province. Since 2022, it has established International Department and has offered A Level curriculum for the students to get access to more opportunities.
THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY
Nanjing Zhonghua High School has two major campuses, one is Xinglong campus, the other one is Yuhua campus. Nanjing Zhonghua High School is widely regarded as one of top four schools in Nanjing and has consistently ranked the top in quality of education and outstanding college admission rate among high schools in Jiangsu Province. In the past five years, dozens of outstanding graduates have been admitted by University College London, Imperial College London, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, University of California Berkeley, University of Edinburgh, University of Hong Kong etc.

PEARSON EDEXCEL A LEVELCURRICULUM
Nanjing Zhonghua High School International Department offers Pearson Edexcel A level curriculum for the students. Students are required to complete IGCSE courses at Grade 10 and then A Level at Grade 11&12.

IGCSE courses: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English as a Second Language, Economics, Information and Communication Technology.

Qulifications
IELTS Test
After 6 months of study, 27 students of Grade 10 took their first IELTS test in March collectively. The average IELTS
overall score of them is 6.5. Among the 27 students, one student achieved an overall score of 7.5, seven students
gained an overall score of 7 and four students got an overall score of 6.5.
IGCSE Qualifications
In May, 2023, 28 students of Grade 10 participated in the IGCSE exams of Pearson Edexcel. They have achieved brilliant results as illustrated in the following table.
A LEVEL COURSE GRADING SYSTEM
The grades reported on the school transcript are overall assessment of homework (15%), classwork (20%), attendance (5%), quiz (20%), and exam (40%). The grading scale is roughly A*=100-95(Outstanding), A=94-90(Excellent), B=89-80(Good), C=79-70(Satisfactory), D=69-60(Weak), U=Fail.
GPA is not applied in Pearson Edexcel A-Level curriculum. We do not rank the students since they have different course selections, and we encourage the students to maintain a constant passion for studying.
A LEVEL COURSE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students will be approved to graduate from Nanjing Zhonghua High School upon completion of all required courses in three years.
Huikao & Gaokao exams are NOT required for graduation.
